This is my contribution to the 33.3.2 Art Show curated by illustrator and designer Dana Lechtenberg. This is the second year for the show which features 33 and a third different artists and designers reinterpreting and re-imagining existing album covers in their own unique style. I chose to reinterpret Pixies "Doolittle" since it's my favorite album of my favorite band and it has a monkey on it, and it's really fun to draw monkeys.

The show opened this past weekend at Schera’s Fine Art located in Elkader, Iowa and will return to Cup of Joe in Cedar Falls, Iowa, for the second leg in early 2012.

Prints of the pieces are available for a only $33 each, just contact Dana via email at: subpop2000@hotmail.com if you'd like to purchase any.

The size of each piece is 12” by 12” (the size of a vinyl LP).

My Morning Jacket

Here's a poster I did for the band My Morning Jacket. They basically said to come up with whatever I wanted and this is the end result. Anyone at the show tonight in St. Louis can pick up one these posters, they are 18"x24" 4-color screenprints.

And in other news, I just got my "damaged" prints back from UPS after they denied my insurance claim, so basically I now have a batch of slightly bent prints that I am offering up for sale at a discounted price to try and recoup my costs on the print run. Here is a photo so you can see the damage.

It's only on the bottom left corner and the prints are slightly bent, if you were going to frame the piece chances are you won't see much of the bend. The size of the print is 16"x24" and is a 3-color screenprint on cougar natural 100# cover stock.

So I am offering these "bent" ones at $25 each plus $8 for shipping in the US or $15 international. The prints will be sent USPS rolled in a tube, i'm not going to bother with insurance on these since they are already bent.

Also, if anyone doesn't want a bent version I have about 6 "mint" copies of the print run that I held on too and never sent to the gallery, those ones are $50 each and $15 for shipping in the US rolled in a tube sent USPS priority mail with insurance.

Here's the second print I did for this years Crazy 4 Cult 5 show at Gallery 1988 which opens tonight. I went with the cult classic "Monster Squad" which was always a favorite of mine growing up, it was like a great mash-up of the old Universal Horror movies and the Goonies...and it taught a very important lesson that Wolfman does in fact have nards.

This is my piece for the Autumn Society's 3B Show opening tonight at G1988 Venice, art inspired by the movies Back to the Future, Beetlejuice and Bill & Ted. This time I teamed up with fellow artists Scott Derby and Tom Whalen to each do one of three silkscreen "advertisement" posters based off the movies, i went with "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey", an underrated sequel that is equally as funny as the original.

We each picked a set size and colors so that they all would match, and labeled them as the (STD collection - heehee). Be sure to check out the other guys, Scott did "Back to the Future" and Tom took on "Beetlejuice"...

They held a one day Facebook event called "Incredible Tales of Emergen-C!" where people wrote in exciting real life stories involving the product, posted them on their wall and then i was asked to illustrate one of the stories. Along with art they also did songs, videos and even a really cool playable video game.

M.A.S.K., although it didn't seem to be as popular as GI Joe and Transformers, it took ideas from both and mashed them into one cool toy line. I didn't have many M.A.S.K toys but one was the Condor that turned from a helicopter into a motorcycle, or maybe it turned from a motorcycle into a helicopter. Either way it was a awesome toy.

I got the pleasure of being asked to contribute a pinup for the highly anticipated all-ages title "Return of the Dapper Men" coming from writer Jim McCann (Hawkeye & Mockingbird) and critically acclaimed and award-winning visual artist Janet Lee. Here it is...

I did a homage to the main Dapper Man #41, here's a little info on what the book is like...

These are my pieces for the upcoming Autumn Society 80's toy themed show at Brave New Worlds Comics in Philly. The 80's was a glorious decade for toys, It was a time when parents would get into fist fights at 6 in the morning, freezing outside a Kiddie City a week before Christmas so they could grab a preemie Cabbage Patch Kid or a Soundwave Transformer for their little girl or boy, and Santa would get all the credit. I loved my Star Wars and GI Joe toys, but Transformers was awesome & let's face it, Gobots sucked...

This is the first of two pieces I did for this years Crazy 4 Cult show at Gallery 1988. I was so stoked to do a Jaws print, it's one of my favorite movies. It's one of those movies that if I see it on TV i must watch, even though i've seen a ton of times and I could just pop in the DVD, but there's definitely something cool about catching it on TV. Plus, this year is the 35th anniversary of the film and it being summer right before the 4th of July really puts me in the mood for Jaws.

This is piece for the upcoming Twilight Zone tribute show "Another Dimension" at Gallery 1988 in LA. I am a huge Twilight Zone fan so it was a real thrill to asked to be part of this show, I couldn't pick just one episode to base a piece off of so I came up with this...

There are about 28 different episodes featured in the piece, "To Serve Man" pops up twice in A and C, and D could be either from the episode "The Dummy" or "Caesar and Me" since it's the same puppet in both episodes.

This is my piece for the Cartoon Madness 5: Lunchbox Show at the Alcove Gallery. Each artist was given a blank metal lunchbox and thermos to design, this was an opportunity I couldn't resist. I have a small metal lunchbox collection and have always been a huge fan of them. It was always a thrill every year around late August when all the new lunchboxes would show up in stores, such a tough decision which one would carry around my PB & J and Caprisun for the school year. Then around 1985 due to kids hitting each other with them (and plastic ones were much cheaper to produce) the reign of metal lunchbox ended, ironically enough with the super violent R-rated movie Rambo themed box being the last produced.

One theme that would pop on lunchboxes during the late 70's early 80's was ones based on TV sitcoms (I.E. The Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Happy Days, etc...). One of my favorite shows growing up was "What's Happening!!" (which I own all 3 seasons on DVD), I always wanted a lunchbox based on the show but sadly one was never made, so this was a perfect opportunity to create my own...

I love Ray Harryhausen films and the original "Clash of the Titans" is one of personal favs. I remember seeing it in the theater as a kid and totally being freaked out by Medusa and those giant scorpions...now almost 30 years later the remake is coming out. At first i was skeptical, but then I saw the trailers. While I will always adore the original, this new one looks pretty sweet... let's hope it doesn't suck.

Did this for Gallery 1988's "Greatest Moments in Sports History" poster and print show. The show opens on Thursday, March 4th and runs the month. Since i'm such a huge nerd and my knowledge of sports is limited to a Wii consule and that Rollie Fingers' was the guy with the silly mustache, I went with the real heroes of the game... the mascots. Think of what they must endure, how hot it is in those costumes and all done with out the aid of performance enhancing drugs.

My piece "Baseball Mascots Through the Ages", will be a 20" x 10" limited edition giclee print of only 22 available through the gallery starting the day of the opening.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band...

Did this one back in December and forgot to post it. So last week i caught the Sgt Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band movie on TV. I had not seen it before, it is an amazing train wreck that one must see to fully understand. Somehow I don't think when the Beatles recorded the Sgt. Pepper album they had envisioned a movie that would have the BeeGees, Peter Frampton wrestling Steven Tyler from Aerosmith and a chorus that included Wolfman Jack, George Burns & Carol Channing.

Well maybe Ringo would've.
